DDV Mediengruppe now uses Augmented Reality based on PAPER.plus

The DDV Mediengruppe, one of Saxony’s largest media houses and publisher of the Sächsische Zeitung and Morgenpost, now uses PAPER.plus as its augmented reality platform.

The latest update of the DDVplus app released in early 2018 is based entirely on the PAPER.plus white label solution.
This now also includes new functionalities that considerably extend the range of applications for the exciting Augmented Reality technology. In addition, the use of “Cloud Recognition” simplifies operation for the user. The selection of a print product before scanning is no longer necessary. Every AR motif provided by DDV can be scanned immediately. Of course, all AR effects already used in the original DDVplus app are still available. In the current “SZ Reisen” magazine, InPage videos are used in particular. Photos become films that are played directly on the magazine page.

A special challenge was the migration of the old data.
Of course, already published products such as “EISZeit” should also be scanable with the new app.
Thanks to the open system design and well thought-out interfaces, this was achieved in a very short time. Small post-editing operations could be carried out in the Composer, the convenient backend editor, in no time at all.

This project was characterized by excellent cooperation between the employees of DDV Technik and ProcSet Media Solutions.
Both sides are looking forward to an exciting future together and new interesting projects in the field of innovative augmented reality technology.
